6 Lines

Searching for simplicity

in the park

in December

the subtle variation

of a black layered sky

threatens rain –

November

In the first touch

of day light

false

with dark cloud

the empty

promise of rain

a view

scene with dispirited regularity

lines of torn black

windows

denuded parkland

& ragged trees

while drinking the last

of the coffee grounds

bitter

remains of morning.

Winter Lines

Through the window

past the frost

thin branches

measure the sky

Failure In

flicking a bug

off the coffee table

unable to describe

a perfect arc.
